As said in the fishbowl, the name of this book is ironic. "To me, anthem is like national anthem which means a nation united under one cause." Kyle Ewers. In "Anthem" many of the characters mentioned are not happy and are not untied under the governments cause. I think she named the book "Anthem" because she was speaking of the anthem that Equality 7-2521 is going to create as he gets older.
"The numbers that the characters are given are similar to our social security numbers because our numbers define us just like their numbers define them." Haley Littmann
During the fishbowl that we had over this book, Haley said this insightful comment. Immediately after she said this I was able to connect with the book and actually admire the works of Ayn Rand.
Twink!
In "Anthem", Equality 7-2521 invented a light bulb by himself. I think that there was an important hidden meaning within this scene of the book. My belief is when he created the light, he created an imaginary "light" within himself. After he created the light, he got more bolder and did not care what his "brothers" or the Council thought.
"Anthem" did not have an ending to it which was disappointing to me. I made up my own ending, and I predict that Equality 7-2521 and the Golden One had a family together. This family would grow and soon become a small society in which everyone is free and allowed to have their own opinion and thoughts. He then would go and attack his old society and free everyone from the Council and overthrow the government. They would then teach everyone the Unspeakable Word and teach them that the word is not bad. The total society would be turned around and be for the better.
This picture reminds me of how much Equality 7-2521 stood out in his society. When I first looked at this photo, I immediately looked at the red cap. If I was placed in "Anthem"'s society, then I think Equality would be my red cap. The book says how he stood more erect than everyone and carried himself a different way.
